Diesel Engine Emergency Shutdown System

The purpose of the Diesel Engine Shutdown System is to prevent the diesel engine run-away that occurs when an engine continues to run from an uncontrollable airborne source other than diesel, such as butane, propane,  turbo oil, etc. The RPM range can climb to a level that destroys an engine. And, in the case of additional fuel in the immediate area, can cause fire and/or an explosion.

.

 How it Works

CO2 is injected directly into the engine's intake system. The flood of Carbon Dioxide displaces the oxygen, thereby stopping the engine instantly. The clean CO2 vapor leaves no harmful residue.

The engine can be restarted almost immediately. The 5-lbs. fire extinguisher must be recharged after each use; this can be done at most Fire Extinguisher service companies.

The operation of this system comes from a handheld transmitter with an in-sight range of 300+ feet. There are two buttons on the transmitter to control the operation.

When the button on the right side (two dots) is depressed one time, a light on the front of the receiver box will illuminate a red "ARMED" light. There will also be a flashing red light on the top of the receiver box to indicate that the system is armed.

Depressing the button on the left side (one dot) of the handheld transmitter will activate the system any time the receiver indicates "ARMED."

Depressing the button on the right side (two dots) a second time will disarm the system.

The system will work with any diesel engine on any application. All that is needed is the Propane Technologies' part number 3200-SK.
