Remote Safety Shutoff Systems
for Bobtails.
Propane Technologies' Remote Shutoff System Closes the Bottom Outlet Internal Valve and Shuts Down the Truck Engine.
As the system is DOT Design Certified and meets DOT requirements, it is already installed on over 15,000 bobtails.
The newly designed receiver makes installation simple. The system is reasonably priced, reliable, and user friendly.
Remote Shutoff System Features for Bobtails
A quick push of the transmitter one-dot button closes the truck's bottom outlet internal valve and shuts down the truck engine.
The transmitter operates up to 300 feet away from the bobtail.
The lock-out feature prevents the accidental re-opening of the bottom outlet internal valve after the system has closed it.
The transmission signal can be generic or custom coded on request.
The two-dot button can be programmed to operate the truck throttle control, the truck hose reel motor control, or the add-on query device designed for bobtails over 3500 gallons water capacity in metered propane delivery service.
Add-On Options for the Remote Safety Shutoff Systems for Bobtails.
Propane Technologies' off-truck remote shutoff systems have two channels. The second channel allows the optional addition to the system of one of three additional features:
1. A throttle advance feature. The system can advance and retard the truck's pneumatic throttle.
2. A hose reel control feature. The system can control the electric motor that operates the hose reel.
3. An add-on query device feature.
The receivers can be adjusted in the field for use with either the throttle relay, the momentary-type hose reel relay, or the query device.
Throttle Control Option
This remote throttle control feature allows a truck driver to keep the truck engine at idle speed while he reels out the hose to a customer's storage container. After attaching the hose-end valve to the filler valve and opening the valve, the driver simply presses the throttle control button on the transmitter and the truck engine throttle advances to the pre-set engine speed for full and efficient pump operation.
The driver fills the container to its maximum allowable filling limit, then shuts off the hose end valve and presses the two-dot throttle control button that brings the truck engine back to idle. The driver then disconnects the valve and rewinds the hose assembly back onto the hose reel.
The optional remote throttle control feature can be installed when the system is installed, or anytime later. It requires a 33P012DC three-way solenoid valve to be installed in the air line to the throttle actuator. The cost of this incremental item is small, and it will save considerable wear and tear on the pump and should pay for itself within a few years.
Hose Reel Control Option
The remote hose reel control feature is designed to remotely control the reeling out of the hose by pressing and holding down the two-dot button on the transmitter. If the button is released, the hose reel is stopped, and when it is pressed and held down again, the hose reel will continue to reel out.
To remotely activate the hose reel motor to reel out requires a special box with solenoids that temporarily reverse the polarization of the reel motor. This feature can easily be added and installed anytime after the initial system installation.
